PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
WELCOME to the Stroke
Recovery Association (SRA) of
For many of you who
may be new and are now on our email distribution list… you may be wondering who
we are?
We are a “unique”
Support Group for SURVIVORS/FIGHTERS of Stroke and Brian Injury, their
Caregivers and Loved Ones who meet at the
The SRA Executive and
Board of Directors are all “Volunteers” & they are either a Stroke
Survivor/Fighter or a Caregiver! At the
October 26th, 2009 Annual General Meeting I was again voted in as
the President (I’m a Caregiver), our Vice-President is Marie Connell (Caregiver),
our Treasurers are Fred Chow (a Stroke Survivor) and his wife Alice Chow (his
Caregiver) and our Recording Secretary is Charlotte Martynuik (Caregiver). Our Members-At-Large include: Bev Decore (Past President & Caregiver),
Michele Clapp (Caregiver), Joan McCreight (Caregiver), Shawn McCreight (Stroke
Survivor), Sharon Anderson (Caregiver), Randy Bell (Stroke Survivor), Gail
Elton-Smith (Stroke Service Co-ordinator), Giri Srinivasan (Clinical Director
& Physical Therapist) & Syke Stein, our liaison (Social Worker at the
Glenrose Hospital). We have a Phoning
Committee (Michele, Marie and Joan) who regularly phone our membership
list to remind people
about our monthly meetings and special events!

We hope everyone will
enjoy attending our monthly 2010 SRA –
If you are “new” to
SRA, we are very happy you have come to visit us! If you are a paid member – thank you for your
“financial support” to our membership!
If you are a non-paid member – PLEASE see Fred or Alice Chow and they
will gladly take your membership money and get you paid-up and in “good
standing”! Our membership fees are very
reasonable at $10.00 for a single person or $15.00 for a family, for the
year! We also welcome charitable
donations
and a tax receipt
will be issued to you for them. We are a
“non-profit” organization but we do have some expenses to be paid. You are more than welcome to come to any of
our meetings and see for yourself what we are all about and to listen to our
guest speakers!
Reminder - Our guest speaker for our February 22nd,
2010 meeting will be Zach Holtzman… on “Tax Tips & Talk” (very good
information regarding tax credits for the disabled for their 2009 Income Tax
Returns)! Please join us at 6:30 p.m.
for refreshments and guest speaker at 7 p.m.
