PRESIDENT’S
REPORT
WELCOME
to the Stroke Recovery Association (SRA) of
If
you are new to our Support Group, we are very happy you have come to visit us;
in fact, we hope you will consider joining us each month! We meet at 6:30 pm (refreshments) and 7 pm –
8:30 pm for the monthly meeting, on the lower level at the
Our Membership fee is
very reasonable: $10.00 for single &
$15.00 for family. For those wishing to
join or renew their membership, PLEASE see Fred or Alice Chow (the Treasurers)
at our meetings and they will gladly take your membership money, get you
paid-up in “good standing” & provide you with a tax receipt. Any & all donations are appreciated &
you will be given a tax receipt for each donation!
For
those who were able to attend our 2009 - Annual SRA Picnic on Monday,
June 8th, wasn’t it GREAT! It
was wonderful to see families & friends come & join SRA members for
this special outing! A big THANK YOU to
our SRA membership & guests for all the great salads, desserts & extra
refreshments! THANK YOU to all the
Volunteers who helped with the picnic set-up & take down! Another THANK YOU to the two M & M Meat
Shops (Namao Centre & Northgate) who provided all the wieners, shrimp rings
with sauce & cream puffs; Sobeys (Beaumaris) for the hot dog buns &
Save-On-Foods (Oxford) for donating the pop!
Our usual spot was being renovated, so we moved indoors to the actual

would like to acknowledge one of our active members Joan and her husband Morris
(Buck) McCreight who celebrated their “50th” Wedding Anniversary on
August 15th, 2009… we wish you good health, much happiness &
many more Anniversaries! Congratulations

As
many of you know, next month’s meeting is on Monday, October 26th
& it will be our AGM (Annual General Meeting). Please see the Notice to Attend in this
month’s newsletter. We have Gail
Elton-Smith (Stroke Service Coordinator) from the Stroke Program, Edmonton
Area, Alberta Health Services… and she will provide us with an Alberta Health
Services update for stroke survivors living in the community! We will also have our elections for the
Executive. If there is someone you would
like to nominate (even if it’s yourself), please talk to one of the Executive
Members (Bev, Alice, Fred or me) or call the SRA phone message machine at (780)
485-3052 & leave a message &/or nomination.
Would
you like to volunteer to be on the Board, be a part of the phoning committee,
or a meeting greeter? Please let me
know.

reminder – the SRA’s Executive & Board of Directors are all Volunteers!

speakers & presentations from E.B.I.R.S., NABIS & NETWORKS (Resource
